what a nice way to bounce back

from a rather unpleasant phonecall this morning.

what a bit of caffeine can do to jostle the memory.

it just popped back into my counsciousness.

i'd been wondering

what was the name of that musician

that had so dominated my teens.

you have to understand

that vinyls had long disappeared

from my daily existence,

like over 20 years ago...

thus losing some of my "friends",

such as klaus.

his music was better than

any drug induced dreams

or ethylic deliriums.

his music was my escape from something

i needed to get away from...

& finding his name again today

gave me the chance to find his albums

on iTunes...

(do i need to escape again,

thus a subcounscious reaction?)

i'm listening to them now.

this period of my life is mostly a big blank,

(better this way, to keep sane...)

but as i listen to his music now,

there are no bad memories associated with it.

it is just a sheer delight

to embrace his music

& let myself slip into his world,

once again.

SOMETHING LOOMING IN THE DARKNESS

again,

my employer strikes a blow,

advising me i'll be seeing another specialist...

one i had seen back in 2002,

& who had caused me some pain...

aside from causing me trouble,

as he had written an unfavorable report on my case,

totally contradicted by the other specialist

i had seen,

at the request of my union.

i rejoice at the idea of seeing this guy again...

N-O-T !!!

but i can't refuse, so...

here we go again!!

the saga continues...

no wonder i keep the phone off the hook,

as i'm never in any rush to speak to those people.

i need to set myself in the proper mood

to deal with them...

what a great idea!!!

i heard recently that they intend

to tear down the whole south wing

as they just realized,

they being the "powers that be"...

that it would not be proper for the "megachum"...

& that it would be better

to start from scratch.

what a genius idea!!!

i just wonder where those departments affected

will be relocated...

& what kind of life

our patients will have

during the whole process.

because we're not talking about just a few weeks,

but months,

if not years...

given the chum's record,

regarding building & renovating.

without mentionning the quality

of the actual work...

as we're always obligated to have some things

completely redone,

because of the poor workmanship,

& the government not being so great

at paying its bills...

the contractors just get fed up,

& start cutting corners,

or just plain quit...

really looking forward

to seeing this happen now.

N-O-T !!!

will this nightmare

ever be over & done with?

will it ever see the day,

or will someone finally pull the plug,

calling the time of death of this foolish project?

given that no one seems to have a clear idea

as to what it involves & needs...

i saw the doctor this morning,

& i'm on sick leave for 2 more months...

i don't know whether i should rejoice

or worry about this,

as my physical state doesn't seem to improve

to my satisfaction,

& give me hope of going back to work.

i wish it was a bit more comfortable,

financially speaking...

but i guess i shouldn't complain

as i'm only suffering moderately...

things could be a whole lot worse.

Montreal college closed following online threat

One of Montreal's biggest junior colleges,

CEGEP du Vieux-Montreal,

was closed Tuesday after police in Cincinnati, Ohio,

learned on an Internet chat room that someone had threatened to

go on a shooting rampage at the school.
"Overnight we received information that

one person using a chat room made some very serious threats

against the CEGEP and also against the personnel and the students,"

said Montreal police Const. Lynne Labelle.
"The first complaint we received is from someone in Ohio.

He saw it on the web.

He then advised the local police department,

who then advised the U.S. Marshall,

who advised the RCMP who then advised us.

Following that we received complaints from Quebec and Ontario."

She said police were then alerted by other people throughout Canada and the U.S.

"so we believe this person chatted with more persons."
The police tactical squad went through the four blocks that make up the campus

and found nothing.
Labelle said it was fortunate that the CEGEP du Vieux Montreal was closed

when the threats were received by police,

however she said officers were at the college by 5 a.m. to secure the building.
She said school officials decided to close the school for the day

before any of the 6,100 students or employees arrived.

A call to the switchboard advises

"that all activities have been suspended for the day."
Labelle said that

"we do have many investigators on the case trying to figure out

where the suspect is.

We're trying to do that using the web."
She said the investigation is of the "highest priority"

due to the nature and the number of the threats.
Police in Cincinnati were unable to pinpoint exactly

who made the threats or from where.

But according to Lt. Mark Briede with the Cincinnati Police Department,

the suspect was chatting in both English and French.
Kimveer Gill, the gunman who opened fire on students

at Dawson College in September 2006,

threatened to do so online before he killed one and injured 20 others.

as the last 2 weeks had been frantic enough in the city.

if i had my way,

but i want to congratulate the "bruins" of boston,

for giving the "habs" a hard time.

some people were getting arrogant in the way

that team showed determination,

despite being the underdog in this series.

i guess i'll have to put up

well, rude awakening for montreal today.

it looks like things degenerated

in montreal

after the hockey game,

& the mob caused much damages

in the downtown district,

again...

if the police department had claimed

they were ready for any eventuality,

they'll have to admit

they weren't...

it is shameful to see

that some people take this opportunity

to wreck this moment for everyone

& vandalise everything in their wake.

& people not responsible for the vandalism

was nonetheless seen on camera rejoicing at the mayhem.

just shameful.

would the city & the police consider

forbiding all manifestations in the streets

to avoid something like that,

in the immediate future?

if the "habs" keep winning,

this may happen again,

& i fear police action may get more brutal...

i'd stay away from the district

& watch the game from home,

if i were you...

sometimes, it can be good, that's what.

you know how many movies involve

an assassination attempt on the president of the usa?

honestly, i've lost count.

so,

when this came out,

"the sentinel" (2006),

i discounted it for one of those movies

that were predictable, boring, & just not worth my time.

well, was i wrong or what???

just saw it on the "movie network".

with michael douglas, kiefer sutherland,

eva longoria & kim bassinger, among others.

(kim, moisturise your hands. i've got nicer hands than you do...)

as far as the movie goes,

interesting suspense, nothing crazy,

& a swell time.

i was hooked from beginning to end.

you know when it starts & you're intrigued.

then you're so enticed,

you don't even have time to speculate on what's gonna happen next.

well, it's one of those movies.

as michael douglas is in there.

he usually gets involved with good movies, doesn't he?!!!...

WOW!! A BLAST FROM THE PAST !!!

i got a call this week,

& i got quite a jolt

when i heard on my voicemail

what it was about:

someone from my ol'highschool

was looking for me!!!!

whoa!!!

talk about a blast from the past,

& not a welcomed one...

i don't remember this period of my life too fondly.

really not!!

not all people there were bad.

i definitely liked the education i got there,

as the teachers were quite good,

at least most of them...

but as far as the students go,

well, that's another story.

there were very few i could somewhat relate to,

& even fewer i actually did,

even if for only a while.

no,

definitely not the best time of my life,

as some made it a specialty

to make me feel miserable

on a daily basis.

the name of the woman who called

is somewhat familiar,

& for no bad reason.

i guess she was allright...

but since i've burnt the schoolyear book,

i can't check her out to be sure.

but even so,

since i was raised properly,

i should return her call to see what she wants.

but guessing it's for a highschool reunion,

because it will be 30 years since we've graduated,

back in '78,

there is no fucking way

i would go & mingle with those people.

NO WAY !!!!

even if some may have "matured"...

can you imagine their reaction

when they see me,

with all of my tattoos & bodypiercings?

they harassed me then,

& there was little i could do about it but endure.

i have a choice now!!!

do i need the aggravation?

why i would never attend something like that.

BUTTERFLIES GO FREE, INDEED...

as a treat for my birthday,

& since springtime is slow to get here,

i decided to treat myself

to some greenery & some fun.

herego,

montreal's botanical garden,

which currently holds the event

"butterflies go free".

they go free indeed!!!

i am by no mean a professional photographer,

& with my tinsy camera,

it was not obvious at times

to get a decent picture of those reluctant models...

kneeling, or standing on my toes,

arms outstreched,

or just shoving the camera blindly into the foliage,

hoping to get a decent picture.

that was fun,

but just not as "relaxing" as i thought it might be...

it made for some good times still.

i would recommend it.

one landed on my hand...

QUEBEC CITY'S ARMOURY: WHEN HISTORY LAYS IN ASHES

on friday the 4th, one of north america's oldest military landmarks

went up in flames,

as quebec city's armoury was engulfed in a fire

that left practically nothing to be salvaged.

it is a hard blow for the city

as it was supposed to be one of the major highpoints

in its celebrations of its 4th centennial.

this building, built in 1884,

was home to the oldest french-canadian regiment,

the regiment des voltigeurs,

the oldest garrison in america.

it was also a museum dedicated to WW1 & WW2' memorabilia,

& it contained as well artifacts of the riel rebellion.

i may not be pro-military per se,

but the historical value here is priceless.

a huge part of the military heritage of the city has just vanished in smoke.

the city's mayor & the military authorities hope to rebuild the armoury.

i don't know how much they can can save from the old structure,

but i wish it would retain some of its old character,

like we've seen with other restaurations there & in montreal.

they asked for financial help from the federal government

to make it at all possible.

but i was reading today on certain forums,

about how other canadians feel

it is the sole responsabilty of quebec's provincial government

& the city itself to rebuild this monument.

it warms the heart to see how those canadians

try to sell us the idea of a united country,

but first chance they get,

they just tell us to go f/u/c/k ourselves!!!

quebec city is one of the few places in quebec

where his party had some successes.

let's see how grateful he really is to this city...

as it is part of the canadian heritage,

whether he likes it or not!!!

has made the corridor extremely echo-y

& i now can hear people getting home
