DAMN MONDAY !!!

another damn monday!!
cold, snowy...
not going to work today,
though i'll still be going to the hospital,
as my father was hospitalized this weekend...
never a dull moment around here.
even the cat is going crazy this morning,
meowing constantly while looking up at the ceiling.
what's up with that.
must be the weather affecting her,
i guess...
i hate mondays!!

the ALs DID IT!!!!!!

i went to bed smiling last night,
after watching the match for the grey cup,
opposing saskatchewan's roughriders
and montreal's alouettes.

the roughriders may have been considered the underdogs,
going into this game,
but they proved to be a worthy opponent,
as they had the lead throughout the game,
except for the last 10 seconds...
a fatal mistake on their part turned out to be their downfall,
as they believe they were holding the cup,
only to have it snatched away in the last play...
so, so cruel!!
i felt for that team.
i wish them better luck next time,
and count your men on the field...
you know.
BTW:
darian durant is quite the asset for this team.
i liked his game.

the alouettes had had a great season,
but in the first half,
they seemed to have run out of steam,
& ate the dust of the rough riders.
i must admit i was on the verge of dozing off in the second quarter.
that's how exciting it was...
things got better in the third quarter
as they never gave up until the end,
giving us the plays we are accustomed to,
and the last 40 seconds of the game
certainly made up for the dull first half.
a fluke gave them a second chance to turn things around,
and they certainly made the most of it.
the ending of this game will be remembered for a long time
and could almost be made into a movie scenario.
what a great comeback!!
all of the hard work from the players, coachs & their trainer
finally paid off at the ultimate moment.

thanx 4 bringing the cup back to montreal,
finally!!!

friday is finally here
and while i still have to go through this day,
just knowing it's here
is reason enough to feel wonderful.
in the wonderful department,

while i stumbled upon ALEST RUKOV's wooden mouse
and marveled at the design and what must be a wonderful feeling
underneath your palm & fingers,
i decried the fact it wasn't wireless though...

not a problem,
if you look at HOLZKONTOR who offers you
a full PC set in wood,
including the wireless mouse,
if you so wish it;
but it will set you back probably between 5 to 7 thousands dollars...
OUCH!!!
but still,
just look at it.
i'll just keep it on my wishlist in the meantime...

H1N1, MONTREAL-STYLE

nice to see
that some people can see humor in every situation,
even during the H1N1 flu vaccine campaign,
leaving many disgruntled
due to a few mishaps & perhaps the misunderstanding
of why there are "priority groups"...
also,
the organisation of such a campaign
being handled different from region to region.
quite the ordeal,
if you ask me!!!

it was a guessing game when people could get those "coupons" for vaccination.

orthodox jews refusing to be vaccinated by a female nurse...
asking for a reasonable accomodation...
big issue here in quebec.

H1N1 flu changing the face of holidays.
we've seen some office parties being cancelled or postponed.
people are getting concerned over gathering with the wrong crowd...
and getting infected.
i can't wait for the whole thing just to blow over.

lucrecia and i finally migrated to another part of town
to visit linoue's new digs on a quaint little street.
she now has all of the space she needs
to carry on the many projects she has.
good for her!!

she proved to be a good hostess,
stimulated by her new home
and eager to show off her many talents.

TGIF: LET'S JUST KISS & SAY GOODBYE

i'm gradually shedding the past,
home decor wise,
that is...
recently,
it was my metal bed;
now it is my behemoth of a microwave oven
my dad gave me for my first appartment,
ages ago.
i guess they didn't have the notion of what compact meant back then.
it was all about the performance,
even if it occupied half the kitchen...
but i know they built them strong,
as the thing just wouldn't die!!
this BEAUMARK appliance performed admirably,
and still does to this day...
but i've always wanted to regain some counter space.
a legitimate wish, no?!?
but i was kindly waiting for its natural demise...
no such luck!!
so,
when i saw in the window of a local shop
a RCA microwave oven for $70,
metal finish with mirror front,
i thought:
"YUP!! come to papa!!"

i'm delighted with my purchase,
despite the sudden realisation this morning
that from now on,
i'll be seeing my tummy on the mirror door...
"well, good morning to you too!!"
i have fond memories of the RCA brand,
as this was my first mini color tv
that lasted me for decades,
despite being ridiculed for its small size,
and me dropping it during one of my many moves...
which actually helped it...
go figure!!
it still works,
from what i've heard from the buddy who picked it up!!
so,
i better get used to seeing my tummy on the microwave door
every morning
if this one lasts me as long...
now,
i have to ask the janitor to rid me of the old one.

but it's [high] time we go our separate way!!
as a farewell song,
i thought of
"live and let die"
or
"another one bites the dust",
but as i didn't want to hurt its feelings...
i opted for something a tad gentler:

A BIT OF OFFICE HUMOR

WHERE WERE YOU ON TUESDAY NIGHT?!?

well, for once,
i had an alibi,
as lucrecia was in town to attend some business,
and knowing she'd be starving,
i grabbed a few things:
a few bottles of cabernet-merlot & a moscatel,
soups from LE COMMENSAL,
a tourtiere from the grocer,
and some strawberry sidewalks,
to go with the moscatel.

a simple meal,
but pleasing to the nose
& satisfying our stomach aplenty.
but instead of the dessert i had planned,
lucrecia had brought some chocolate-covered coffee beans...
i don't know if i had a sugar rush,
or a caffeine rush,
but i definitely got a rush of some kind,
as the evening flew by way too quickly,
and without me feeling the least bit tired,
but at one point,
realising the time it was,
like after 1 a.m.,
it became obvious
i wouldn't be fit for work,
so i sent in an email advising my boss
i wouldn't be coming in on wednesday.
and it was a wise decision...
oy vey!!!

so we just kept talking,
about this and that,
like music, lots of it,
web stuff,
her artsy stuff,
and movies!!!

STAR TREK had just come out on DVD that day,
and i "offered" that we watch it.
lucrecia had always been a fan of the series,
but wasn't quite sure she wanted to see this prequel...
by the time the movie was over,
i believe she had changed her mind
and had enjoyed it quite a lot.
:)~

of course,
miss carrie brad'chat provided much of the entertainment
throughout the evening,
until she gave up on us
and finally curled up in some corner,
being a more reasonable creature
than we were, apparently...
:D~
speaking of movies and music,
one of those that we talked about
and the lasting impression it made on us:
"ACROSS THE UNIVERSE",
with LET IT BE.
a nice way to end that night,
and this post.
am i glad i didn't go to work today,
or what?!?
