TICKLEBEAR's 365 DAYS-DAY 216 (MONTREAL FIRST NATIONS FESTIVAL 2011)

i had promised myself
i would attend the
MONTREAL FIRST NATIONS FESTIVAL
this year.
well,
i can now say
"BEEN THERE!! DONE THAT!!"
:)~

a delightful surprise to run into a few "mooses"...
these ones looked harmless enough.
:D~

the one above is my picture-of-the-day
:)~

in the center of the
Quartier des Spectacles
a giant tee-pee had been raised
and kids got to play there.

something on a smaller scale.
it looks great though.
:)~

i got to see performances by people
originally from Honduras[?] and Panama,
if memory serves me right.
it was nice.
but i was hoping to see our own people here,
dancing and playing music,
like maybe,
some Mohawks in full regalia...
that didn't happen
and i was getting tired standing under that sun.

still,
i did a detour via
LE COMPLEXE DESJARDINS
to withdraw some money,
because...

i managed to do some shopping!!!
a local artist,
did this art piece above,
which now hangs at my place.
it's called
"LA DANSE DE L'OURS",
(BEAR DANCE).
the bear doing its dance with GAIA in the background.
visually appealing,
i find it also significant,
given the culture it comes from,
and the similarities i share with bears.

so,
the day didn't turn out exactly as i was hoping,
but it's all good.
i enjoyed nonetheless what this day brought to me.
i'm just glad
i am now back home,
with the air conditioner working full blast...
:)~

  1. What a lovely adventure! I'm impressed with those moose. Not dissimilar to the window on your recent sojourn to the art gallery!
    Love the colours. Thank you.

  3. @ PRINCESS:
indeed, these mooses you are referring to are in the vicinity of the museum. i should try to track them all!! by photographing those from the first nations festivals at different angles, the results looked quite different.

overall, the place was not overcrowded, but those who attended seemed to be enjoying themselves, and that's always good.

but there are actually 7 dots. one may be hardly visible in the pic, but it is there on the original.
