i had promised myself
i would attend the
MONTREAL FIRST NATIONS FESTIVAL
i can now say
"BEEN THERE!! DONE THAT!!"
a delightful surprise to run into a few "mooses"...
these ones looked harmless enough.
the one above is my picture-of-the-day.
in the center of the
Quartier des Spectacles,
a giant tee-pee had been raised
and kids got to play there.
something on a smaller scale.
it looks great though.
i got to see performances by people
originally from Honduras[?] and Panama,
if memory serves me right.
it was nice.
but i was hoping to see our own people here,
dancing and playing music,
some Mohawks in full regalia...
that didn't happen
and i was getting tired standing under that sun.
i did a detour via
LE COMPLEXE DESJARDINS
to withdraw some money,
i managed to do some shopping!!!
a local artist,
did this art piece above,
which now hangs at my place.
"LA DANSE DE L'OURS",
the bear doing its dance with GAIA in the background.
i find it also significant,
given the culture it comes from,
and the similarities i share with bears.
the day didn't turn out exactly as i was hoping,
but it's all good.
i enjoyed nonetheless what this day brought to me.
i'm just glad
i am now back home,
with the air conditioner working full blast...
