A symbol of grace and endurance,
a reign of 60 years cannot be neglected.
Let's hear it for Lilibeth!!!
Who would have guessed that a sudden coronation
would propel a young woman through the century into the new millenia,
with many [mis]adventures she lives to tell [or not...].
CANADA,
1963.
our ministry of forestry.
Our mining industry.
DOMINICA,
1969.
GREAT BRITAIN,
1970.
CANADA,
1972.
our transportation department.
CANADA,
1973.
One of my favorite stamps.
GUINEA ECUATORIAL,
1977.
Her silver jubilee.
CANADA,
2002.
I cropped this stamp as it was still stuck to a piece of envelope...
50 years,
a remarkable accomplishment.
And she's now on her 60th year on the throne...
Post Canada has been issuing many commemorative stamps in her honor.
I meant to go to the Post Office to pick up some
to show you here,
but I'm too lazy this weekend to go out,
so,
I give you this:
See HERE what else they have to offer.
I'll surely get some,
just not now,
as I mean to relax this weekend,
unless I change my mind...
Who knew she'd reign that long?!?
:)~

A lovely array of designs. I hope she’ll be around a while longer yet too!
ReplyDelete@ LITTLE NELL:
ReplyDeleteDo you think she'll make it to be a 100? Looks like she's good for it.
:)~
HUGZ
Yes, she has good genes :)
ReplyDelete@ LITTLE NELL:
ReplyDeleteBut do WE??
to witness it...
;)~

Good point. BTW I didn’t see your link on Viridian’s blog - unless my genes are letting me down already!
ReplyDeleteI love the simplicity of the first stamp and the way the dots and lines show up in the enlargement.
ReplyDeleteIt is amazing that Queen Elizabeth has been Queen ever since the year Eisenhower was first elected President in the U.S. The world has changed a lot since then.
The last stamps you show are the first I remember of the Queen with grey hair.
ReplyDeleteShe appears on more stamps than anyone else.
@ LITTLE NELL:
ReplyDeleteYour genes are just fine!!
I do not partake into that meme as I have very little stamps to show for. (Is it not exactly what I said to Tony about Sepia Saturday?) I used to collect stamps as a kid, and when I closed house for my parents, I recuperated some of my stamps, and some of my dad as well, but what I kept fits in a single folder, and not a thick one at that... Also, I set my own rules on how I want to feature them, usually they relate to something I've discussed during the week, or not. And in 2012, I show once a month some Olympic stamps, 'until the London Games, I should be done with that theme about the Olympics.

@ BOB SCOTNEY:
ReplyDeleteShe's a popular girl, sort of...

Now this is an interesting way to view the Queen's life!
ReplyDeleteI wonder if she knew she'd reign so long... or what her plans are for passing down the crown.
@ BRENDA YOUNGERMAN:
ReplyDeleteCharles should let go of his claim to the crown and let William take over. But it looks like Lilibeth is hanging on to life/power. Good for her!!
