FROM MY HEART (045/365 DAYS, 3.0)

It's Valentine's day, 

and many are either acting [too] cute for the occasion 

or simply going mad trying to do things right [for a change]... 

Do I sound cynical?!? 

Perhaps...

I have a heart just like everyone else, 

a beating one too!! 

I ain't dead yet. 

But matters of the heart are no longer of any concern to me. 

It's been burning with passion; 

it's been trampled upon by indifference or lies; 

it's been bleeding for far too long. 

My heart is tired 

and I've decided to give it a break 

before it totally gives up on me. 

But have I given up on Love? 

The pure notion of Love? 

Nope, 

still a believer!! 

Men?!? 

Please, 

give me a break!! 

They wouldn't know love even if it spitted in their face. 

Again, 

do I sound cynical to you?!? 

You bet...  

I've given Love a fair chance and it proved to be a no-show. 

Why bother then?... 

I have many tattoos. 

It's long been a passion of mine. 

So, 

for the occasion, 

I dug up and scanned an old drawing of mine, 

a heart which is tattooed on my left calf. 

I also took a pic this morning of said calf, 

blended everything together 

and voila!! 

Some wear their heart on their sleeve... 

I wear mine on my skin. 

From paper to skin, 

from ink to ink!!

Since I was looking through some old stuff, 

I figured why not bring out some old pic I took back in my college days, 

in the early 1980s... 

Some pic I took at the Botanical Garden, 

and which I called "Lip". 

Let's see if you can figure out why.... 

I played with it on Photoshop, 

adding filters and textures, 

and to make it really corny, 

I added a good sentiment, 

but one I actually believe in, 

none of that Hallmark bullshit... 

Something I go by. 

So for those in a romantic relationship, 

be true to yourselves and to each other. 

For the single ones, 

keep hoping if you must, 

but just make sure of one thing first: 

Love yourself!! 

Otherwise, 

nothing is real!!
