I got home in a state of utter exhaustion after my day's work
and slept from 4 to 7 pm...
To make a story short,
Yesterday,
I felt it was strange that my Monday seemed so "normal",
busy but no glitch,
almost too easy.
That's because this week's special is,
Monday is happening on Tuesday!!!
A big workload to deal with,
a disappointing weather as we were told we'd have some sun
and I had been planning some experiments
which required the sun who was a no show
until a very weak appearance by the end of the day...
To top it all off,
a reunion after lunch...
I almost dozed off!!!
Almost...
I'm used to moving after lunch,
not sitting on my ass...
So let's just say I went straight home afterwards,
still annoyed I couldn't take the pictures I wanted.
A weak gleam of light caught a patch of color in this ever present greyness
and I looked up.
It is not the first time I take pics on that block
but I took another angle at it today.
The tale of the Two Towers.
If you look at the picture above,
you'll notice an architectural detail mimicking a tower on each side of this block.
The closest here is functional as it holds some windows,
while the other one is [presumably] just for show.
Still,
it gives some character from a century ago,
appearing sophisticated.
There are a few signs of wear-and-tear on these buildings,
and it'd be a shame if it all went to sh%t...
It may be just for show,
but I see it daily and always like seeing it there,
trying to imagine what the folks were like a century ago,
possibly some bourgeois-type...
Nowadays,
the district seems to be going through some revival
but it leaves hardly any room for history.
Looking at the texture of the past here.
Might as well take a good look at it now
before it might disappear...

Great shot, the first one had me fooled for a moment - at first glance I thought it was a fancy drill
ReplyDeleteThat would be an odd drill indeed,
Deleteand a gigantic one at that!!!

It looks like something from a fairy tale. I think Rapunzel should be up there 'letting her hair down'!
ReplyDeleteThat was my take on it too!!
