I'm late even for my own birthday...
you read it right!!
I had to fix the scheduling of this post to make it appear like this was done on time,
but let it be known that I wrote this only the morning after...
I had a pleasant surprise when I opened my browser
to find cakes and candles aplenty.
Me thinks Google knows already too much about me...
I went to work,
I usually take the day off...
Too much work.
I just couldn't...
Went to work under the rain,
which was a bummer.
Talk about raining on MY parade!!
I guess Mother Nature doesn't use Google
or she would have known this was my birthday.
My bet is that she would have thrown in a snowstorm,
if she had known...
aside from the usual back pain that worries me despite the meds,
work went well,
and other matters too!!
I had no plans for the evening since I'm working the day after,
but there will be some later on this week,
But I did treat myself to a glass of wine and a pastry,
AND NO SINGING!!!
Comes a time when birthdays are not such a big deal anymore,
but a discreet "Happy Birthday" said by friends is still heart warming.
That's how I like it anyway...
But after all of that wine and sugar,
after a long day's work,
this was just too much for me:
I WENT TO BED!!
I went to bed early on my own birthday.
Where are the days when I could party all night
and still carry on with work and all of the rest?!?
I edited my pics in the middle of the night,
full of caffeine and nicotine,
rushing a bit to write this
as it will soon be time to go back to work.
Welcome to reality!!
But someone promised me a chocolate pancake for lunch today
so that'll be another sugar rush!!
Now progressing through my fifties,
I look back at the long road traveled so far
and all I can say is that I haven't traveled a straight road,
no pun intended...
Often bumpy or even hazardous,
I've often lost myself and typically,
never really asked for directions,
always doing things my way,
stubborn as I am!!
But I've learned a few things from my mistakes,
and the value of friendship.
They're both easy to lose
and great to cherish.
Off I go for yet another day,
and I can already smell that chocolate pancake from here!!
