SEEKING REFUGE (229/365 DAYS, 3.0)

I needed a moment of quietness,
an urge for some solitude if only for only a few brief moments.
See,
I'm training someone this week
and all day,
I was showing things and explaining them,
talking, talking, talking!!!
So,
I needed a moment of quietness,
an urge for some solitude if only for a few brief moments...

During lunchtime,
I went [finally] alone to rest for a little while in a small corner,
somewhere between shade and sunlight,
the chaos of the city loudly echoing around me
and me not caring the least.

I was fixing the wall in front of me,
seeking refuge in the simplicity I saw before me,
a few slender trees lining this wall,
still untouched by the sun that day,
swaying in the cool breeze.
I was fixing the wall in front of me,
seeking refuge in the simplicity I saw before me...

After a while,
I was calm enough to even get into a flight of fancy,
playing with the images in my sight
and creating new ones in my mind,
between the texture and geometric of the wall
and the soft shades and lines of the trees.
Trust not that anything I'm showing you is real
but believe that the feeling is...

Interrupted by familiar faces and loud voices,
my serenity was lost.
I had not ventured far enough
and against my will,
I was brought back to reality.

While I was seeing/hearing them munching on their lunch and babbling about nothing,
I looked around and noticed something written in silver paint on the bench,
now glittering as the sun sought to invade my little corner:
"MALE P7 VC".
Are these urban hieroglyphs meaning anything at all?!?
Who cares!?!
I also watched birds going into a frenzy
when one of my colleagues started throwing them pieces of his sandwich...
And I was amused while watching a squirrel rampaging garbage bags near by.
It did come out of there with some large prize,
something I could not define because of the distance and shadows,
but up the tree the squirrel went,
dragging that thing in its mouth,
whatever that was...
I went back to work,
showing things and explaining them,
talking, talking, talking!!!

Now something to [perhaps] amuse you:
On my way to work,
as I was walking under the trees,
I heard and felt a "plock!!!" on my shaven head.
Yes,
a bird had "blessed" me...
You just can't imagine how pleased I was by this.
NO, really, you can't!!!
And people say it is a sign of good luck...
:D~

  1. Lovely descriptive writing TB - even the onomatopaeic 'plock'! That's almost a poem in the middle bit; complementing the images beautifully.
