It is the night before Xmas...
"Shades of Nostalgia"
Surely I can't be nostalgic about those Xmas I experienced with my parents,
too often marred by flaring tempers and too much alcohol,
generally finding me in my room with my headphones,
seeking an escape in my music.
But I know of people who have had happier experiences and told me about those.
So while this day means nothing to me,
the concept of Xmas,
in its purest form,
seems somewhat appealing.
The picture above shows a detail of a bookstore's window.
Soft shades of colors,
all this trapped on a narrow ledge against the dirty glass of the window.
The magic of Xmas is in the eye of the beholder,
as easily created as it can also be squashed...
Another shop window,
a music store this time.
A poor little reindeer was alone in one corner of the window,
so I decided to give it company by mirroring the image.
The bokeh was created when I photographed the Xmas tree standing in the opposing corner.
This is the only kind of magic I know,
what I can give you.
May you find your own magic on this day.
Celebrate what you want,
in whatever way you want,
remember the true spirit of this holiday
if you call yourself a Christian.
